The last Titan Missile silo site

Today was a real life flashback to the "cold war years". This site is amazing to see and recommend it if you are near Tucson AZ. If you want to learn more, go to

The first picture of my new T shirt tells a lot about how folks down here feel about illegals.

Chiricahua Nat'l Monument

Today we were Arizona tourist's. Carol made a picnic lunch and we headed southeast to see the Chiricahua Nat'l Monument. It is over 7,000ft in elevation but the weather was short sleeve, clear and very nice. 27 million years ago a bunch of volcanoes created this range of mountains and the eroded boulders that remain are a site to behold. These pictures do not reflect the magnitude of this area. We left at 9AM and got back about 3PM and we had a great time sight seeing today.

Our shed is almost done

Over a week of long hours and hard work and all that's left to do is wiring, insulation, and paneling. We are taking a few days off and get caught up on local sightseeing. The guy helping me is a neighbor and ex cabinet maker so our shed is built more like a piece of furniture than a building.
Tomorrow we are going to a small town (Dragoon) to see their fall festival so we may have some more pictures soon.

Answer to the question: Can you guess what Carol is doing?

Answer to the question: Can you guess what Carol is doing?
Some of you got part of the answer. At the Tombstone AZ (the original county seat) courthouse, which is now a very nice historical museum has it’s original courtroom on the second floor where many famous local trials were held in the past. For those that do not wish to climb the stairs, there is a video tour, and an interesting reenactment of a famous trial can be viewed from the main floor. To limit the sound, the speakers are old hand help phones. So Carol was watching the video and listening via the old phone.

Our weather has been great with highs in the low 80’s and 55 at night with mostly bright blue sky days. Yesterday we did 2 chickens on the BBQ and had neighbors over for dinner on the patio. This morning at 6 AM I awoke to the sound of the concrete truck in front of our place. That would have been OK except the crew that was doing the work was not here. 30 minutes later they showed up and my blood pressure went back to normal and 4 yards of concrete has now been placed for our new garage/washroom/& storage room. The pictures below are for your visual enjoyment.

For those that leave a comment on our blog, if you select “other” instead of “anonymous”, you will be able to insert your name so others (only those on my viewers list) can tell who has made the comment.

Tomorrow is a big day for Carol; she will be playing card games for at least 3 hours with her friends in the clubhouse. Soon the snowbirds with return and then lots of things start happening. Well I guess I’ll go watch the concrete get finished and do some wood carving, Hard day at work in retirement…..LR

A very lucky lizard

This little guy (it's body was the size of a quater) was resting in the middle of a 2 lane asphalt road. I was driving the golf cart so it was easy to see him. I was able to stop and pick it up and transplanted him to our back yard.

View from front window

For some of you this blue sky may look artificial but this what we see from our front window every day. The sunset view was taken just after a very brief thunder storm that gave us about 30 seconds of rain.
